Ready Health has two document processing endpoints: intake and scan. Both extract fields and run the same validations. The difference is whether the uploaded file is treated as one document or first split into many.

When to use each

Use intake when a file might contain more than one document — for example a packet with a license, a BLS card, and a TB test in a single PDF. Intake first checks whether the file contains distinct documents, splits them into segments, and can return many different document types from one upload. Use scan when each upload is a single document. If candidates (or your app) send files individually, scan is sufficient. It classifies and extracts that one document.
